ChatGPT Ads in Spain: how it works and the opportunity for companies and agencies

ChatGPT Ads has expanded to Spain. Learn how the channel works, how it differs from organic GEO/AEO, and how companies and agencies can approach it.

ChatGPT advertising has expanded to Spain, opening a new channel for reaching people while they research, compare options and make decisions inside a conversation. Using it well requires a clear distinction between two complementary activities: ads are paid placements, while GEO/AEO aims to improve a brand's organic presence in answers and sources.

ChatGPT Ads provides paid participation in a conversational experience; it does not buy or alter the answer generated by ChatGPT.

What ads in ChatGPT are

OpenAI explains that ads can appear below an answer, clearly labelled and separated from generated content. During this phase they may be shown in eligible Free and Go experiences, while Plus, Pro, Business, Enterprise and Edu remain ad-free.

Selection can consider the context and intent of the current conversation, alongside the landing page, title, copy, advertiser-provided context hints and targeting choices. This makes semantic relevance central: bidding alone is not enough, because the message and destination page need to answer the person's actual moment.

Availability in Spain

On 18 August 2026, OpenAI announced the expansion of ChatGPT Ads to 31 European markets, including Spain. Availability and access routes are evolving during the beta, so every project should confirm the current Ads Manager status before activation.

An early launch also means formats, inventory, delivery systems, buying and measurement can change. There are not yet universal benchmarks that support promising a standard cost or result across industries.

Why this channel is different

  • The person is already expressing a need or comparing options inside a conversation.
  • Context can be richer than an isolated keyword, although targeting still requires care.
  • The ad is separate from the answer and does not mean OpenAI endorses the advertiser.
  • The landing page needs to continue the conversation with clarity, proof and a coherent next action.
  • Because the platform is evolving, controlled objectives and budgets are the sensible starting point.

What Blobic management includes

Blobic is adding ChatGPT advertising to its digital advertising work for companies and agencies. Management adapts to the account's effective access and to the Ads Manager capabilities available at the time.

  • Initial strategy: objectives, markets, products, audiences and opportunities.
  • Setup: campaigns, groups, relevant contexts and available targeting.
  • Creative: copy, imagery and alignment with destination pages.
  • Measurement: impressions, clicks, spend and conversions according to available options and project traceability.
  • Optimisation: budget, bids, messages, relevance and observed outcomes.

For companies, we assess whether the channel fits the product, decision cycle and measurement capability. For agencies and delivery partners, we manage delivery on a white-label basis so they can add ChatGPT Ads to their service portfolio without building a specialist team from scratch.

Advertising and GEO/AEO are different layers

An ad does not improve a brand's organic appearance in answers by itself. OpenAI keeps advertising systems separate from the chat model, and advertisers cannot alter its answers. Equally, a GEO/AEO strategy does not guarantee advertising inventory or replace a paid campaign.

The two layers can still work together. A campaign reveals contexts, messages and needs with commercial response; GEO/AEO strengthens pages, entities, sources and content that explain the brand with verifiable evidence. Measurement should keep ads, organic visibility, traffic and commercial opportunities separate.

How to frame an initial pilot

  • Define one audience and one specific commercial need.
  • Select an offer and landing page that resolve that need without ambiguity.
  • Prepare several messages aligned with different consideration contexts.
  • Configure a conversion that represents real contact or business, not only a technical interaction.
  • Set a controlled initial budget and learning window.
  • Review contexts, creative, pages and leads before increasing spend.

What should not be promised

  • A fixed position inside ChatGPT.
  • That paying for ads changes or influences organic answers.
  • A cost per lead that applies to every industry before first-party data exists.
  • Immediate access to capabilities that are not yet enabled for the account.
  • Commercial results without a coherent landing page, offer and measurement setup.

The opportunity is real, but it is also early. A measured pilot, learning from first-party evidence and expanding only when lead quality supports it is the defensible approach.
